Our history
1968: The Company was founded by the Martinez brothers Francisco and Vicente. The company began with a 24 seater minibus, for school transport services and a local bus service for the workers in Alicante and surroundings.
1.971: With the acquisition of the first 59 seater coach and the change of the business field to the tourist sector in Benidorm, the current name of “Autocares Martínez” was coined. With the passage of time and the growth of Benidorm, the company has also grown and consolidated itself in the transport sector in Benidorm, without losing sight of its home town (Mutxamel).
1.984: Begins to be shaped to the current corporate colors, as the first units are painted with red, blue and gold colors on a white background
1.990: The Company has 12 coaches and the rate of growth is increasing rapidly.
1.996: The number of coaches has doubled and reached up to 24 in just 6 years. In addition, a business group has been formed by Autocares Martínez and two new companies, Costabús, S.L. and Bonibús, S.L., each company specializing in different aspects of the discretional sector.
1.997: The group received its first AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE from one of its main clients. In subsequent years receives two more awards and a prize for safety – SAFETY FIRST.
1.998: Group Autocares Martínez takes on a commitment to quality by obtaining the quality certificate under UNE standard, ISO 9002, with the guarantee of AENOR.
2.001: New market niches started to be opened to meet the demands of our clients. The average age of the fleet had dropped to 3 years thanks to an ambitious programme of vehicle renewal. Quality is everything.
2.002: AUTOCARES MARTINEZ was awarded the BEST TOURIST SERVICES COMPANY OF THE YEAR prize by one of the sector’s most prestigious magazines at a national level.
2.003: The group now has 33 coaches of different capacities to meet the needs of the company. We began to diversify our client portfolio within the tourist sector.
2.004: Our Group continues to grow, now having bases in Benidorm, Alicante and Torrevieja.
2.005: Mr. Francisco Martínez was awarded with the MEDAL OF MERIT IN PASSENGER TRANSPORT; an award proposed by the FPTI (Provincial Transport Federation of Alicante) to FENEBUS (National Business Federation Federation of Bus Transport)
2.007 The “Business Class” concept comes into being, diverse companies and events starting to use it. We continue raising our standards of perceived quality.
2.008: Our internal management was completely remodelled; technology is becoming now a powerful ally. We were designated as official transport for the Volvo Ocean Race held in Alicante. Our comprehensive services to OPC’s and DMC’s had increased considerably since 2004. Our portfolio of alternative services continues to grow.
2.009: Such is our commitment to quality and safety that, despite the crisis, AUTOCARES MARTINEZ made a major investment to install SAFETY BELTS in all the seats of our fleet, thereby following the safety advice announced by the “PONLE FRENO” platform of the ANTENA 3 TV group.
2.011: To carry out several events of large-size definitely strengthen our company in the sector M.I.C.E. The Volvo Ocean Race again rely on our services to meet their transportation needs. In addition major automotive brands as Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz have our experience in covering their transportation needs in the area.
Today: Currently we manage a modern fleet with over 35 buses and several cars Premium.We count with new clients with references in different sectors and with important tour operators, both national and international. We have customers with more than 27 different nationalities. We are technologically more efficient and have a firm environmental commitment. We are perfectly positioned to provide solutions to a continuously changing market whose mobility requirements also change.
